WEST/NORTH AT SAND BARRENS GOLF CLUB
It’s sandy everywhere at West/North at Sand Barrens Golf Club! As the name suggests, West/North nine features oceans of sands which is located literally at the traps and bunkers. This award-winning 9-hole golf course and golfers’ favorite was named as America’s Best Courses for New Jersey by Golfweek Magazine in two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006.
Golfers who are big hitters will enjoy the No. 4 hole as it is easy for them to drive the green. Novice golfers may get frustrated especially if they didn’t hit big but a very straight hit is the key to win this hole. Also, they must familiarize themselves with its design to lessen the stress they might feel during the play. This hole has more sand than any other hole as well as bunkers. It also features waste area and woods.
Hole No. 5 is the smallest green in the West/North nine. Expect that everything is either short or narrow. It has a small and short landing area and the green is almost surrounded by bunkers. This short, very narrow and straight ahead course has a creek on its left side. The presence of the trees on the mid-fairway adds challenge for the golfers as it narrows the space for their second shot.
After taking the challenge at the sandy and the smallest green, golfers will encounter the best golf hole in the resort. Golfers will be challenged at hole No. 8 as it will require them to hit from an elevated tee to the par 4 slight dogleg-left. An accurate shot as well as long tee shot is a must to use the mid-to long-iron to the large green.
The last hole is very long and golfers will also hit from an elevated tee. Golfers must not worry about the huge waste area as a mid-iron second shot will get them to the very undulating green.
